RATES
HOW MUCH DO VIDEOGRAPHERS, CINEMATOGRAPHERS AND DIRECTORS OF PHOTOGRAPHY COST IN THE UK?
Videographer rates can often be confusing, so here's a basic explanation.
Hourly rates, Day Rates and Half Day Rates

Different videographers have different pricing structures; some charge hourly, but most videographers, cinematographers, and DOPs charge a day rate and a half-day rate. The location of the videographer may also affect what their rate is—a videographer in London usually costs more than anywhere else in the UK. Additionally, complex videos may require more camera operators and more cameras which would affect the budget. Videos needing animation would involve hiring a specialist, adding to the overall expense.
How I work: I have a day rate as well as a half day rate that covers up to 5 hours of filming, if we go over those 5 hours, the rate will then become a full day

Is Equipment Included or Will It Cost Extra?
Another thing to consider is the gear needed to create the video. Most videographers have their own equipment and will charge for its use, either as a separate fee or included in their rate. Occasionally, additional gear might need to be rented, which would result in extra costs.
How I work: I will look at the scope of the job and provide a detailed list of the gear needed and this will be included in my quote to you.
Post-Production
Editing is often more time-consuming than filming. The amount of post-production time required depends on the project's specifics. As a rough guide, expect editing and post-production to take at least 1.5 times the filming duration. So, a one-day shoot typically needs at least one and a half days of post-production work.
How I work: Judging by how much we film on the shoot day and how many videos are required for the job as well as any extras that the job needs (graphics, or animation) I will provide an explanation of days needed for an edit and this will be included in my quote.
Pre-Production
Good planning is crucial for a successful project. Efficient pre-production ensures better end results and includes scripting, storyboarding, location scouting, and talent booking. Most videographers charge an hourly rate for pre-production work if it's not included in their standard fees.
Other Costs to Consider
Be aware of additional costs such as location fees, music licences, stock footage, travel, food, and other expenses. Travel expenses are usually passed on to the client. For long-distance shoots, particularly international ones, videographers commonly charge 50% of their usual day rate for travel days.
